TI Developments are delighted to present FNA 436 to the market.
WOK 7
FNA 436 was produced by the Swiss-born Werner Oswald. During the 1980s, Oswald undertook the creation of continuation replicas of the original 1934 Frazer Nash Le Mans Replicas. This particular example, chassis 79280 / WOK 7, was the seventh car produced out of a total of eleven. All eleven cars were based on Frank Sytner’s original Frazer Nash Le Mans Rep MkI.
Finished in timeless navy-blue coachwork and tastefully paired with black leather upholstery, WOK 7 has benefitted from significant restoration in recent years. Under the ownership of Mr. J. Baker, the factory-fitted 110 Bristol 6-cylinder engine was removed and replaced with a period-correct Type 85 Bristol block, paired with a genuine FNS cylinder head (FNS 18). This head was previously owned by Bob Gerrard and fitted to his Le Mans Rep chassis 100/119. The engine was built to FNS specification by Tony Byford, a renowned Bristol/BMW engine specialist, ensuring it closely matches the configuration of the original cars.
Following Mr. Baker’s ownership, the car was purchased in 2007 by historic racer John Crowson, who enjoyed it for many years before passing it on to the current owner in 2021. The current custodian, a long-standing VSCC member, has continued to enjoy and improve the car. Most recently, the Nash visited Stanton Motorsport highly regarded in the world of classic motor racing and particularly known for their expertise with Bristol engines for a full rolling road tune-up.
WOK 7 is accompanied by VSCC eligibility documents, and we are confident it could obtain FIA HTP papers, as several other ‘WOK’ cars have already been certified.
Accompanying the car is a comprehensive history folder which includes works carried out dating back to the early 90’s along with a full tonneau cover and ‘aero’ windscreens.
FNA 436 is a Manchester registration linked to a 1938/39 BMW FN 326, it is thought the identity for WOK 7 was taken from the 326.
History of the Frazer Nash Le Mans Rep
The Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica is one of the most iconic British sports racing cars of the post war era. Built by AFN Ltd in Isleworth, Middlesex, it was inspired by the brand’s strong performance at the 1949 24 Hours of Le Mans, where a Frazer Nash finished third overall and first in its class. This success led to the production of the “Le Mans Replica” a lightweight, agile, and highly competitive sports car designed for endurance racing.
Among its most famous drivers was Stirling Moss, who raced a Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica early in his illustrious career, helping to cement the car’s reputation on the international stage. Other notable names included Roy Salvadori, Ken Wharton, Tony Crook, and Mike Anthony, many of whom achieved class wins and outright victories at events such as Goodwood, Silverstone, the Targa Florio, and the Mille Miglia.
Only around 34 Le Mans Replicas were built between 1948 and 1953, making them extremely rare and highly collectible today. The combination of engineering purity, motorsport pedigree, and limited production cements the Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica as a true post-war racing legend.
