Since Karl Benz patented his first automobile, with an internal combustion engine, back in 1885 (financed by his wife’s dowry) tens of millions of Mercedes-Benz vehicles have been sold globally.
With a morass of models emerging over the decades, encompassing all genres from lightweight sports cars, compact family cars, elegant roadsters and stately limousines to super-saloons and dauntless six-wheeled SUVs, it is hardly surprising that many from this marvellous marque have become collectible classic cars.
