Seen as the most recognisable British made vehicle of all time, in fact, any British countryside setting not featuring a Land Rover of any description gives the feeling something is missing. Produced between 1948-1958, the Series 1 is one of the most versatile classics produced.
A local family to us here in Wiltshire has owned this Series 1 for the past 40 years. Our brief from the customer having recently inherited the vehicle was to completely rebuild the car back to its former glory to ensure generations to come can enjoy and make lifelong memories just like they have.
Being very much used in the British countryside throughout the duration of the Land Rovers life, as expected time and the elements have taken their toll on most areas of the vehicle.
Our team wasted no time in completely stripping the car down to the very last nut and bolt, every component had to be stripped back to bare. Panels needing to be replaced were so with readily available re-manufactured parts or totally hand made in house. Our general practice is to use the most modern and effective products when protecting the metal work on any vehicle to ensure everything is protected for hopefully in this Land Rover’s case, 70+ years.
Now delivered back to the family, upon which they couldn’t believe the transformation from the heavily neglected and tired example to the finished product, we are delighted on how this project turned out and are especially pleased having been ensured the car won’t just be for show but will actually be used and enjoyed.
