A truly iconic British roadster, most happy being driven on the winding UK B roads. Given its simple yet effective design and lively driving experience the MG Midget is deservedly popular within the classic car community.
Brought to us by a local customer, having not owned a classic car for some years he purchased the Midget to reignite the flame. Our brief was initially simple, to take the coachwork back to bare metal and to totally respray the vehicle.
During the process of stripping off the old paint, a substantial amount of corrosion was found… this is where the simple project became much more in depth!
We addressed all the necessary areas of the coachwork, either by remaking them in house or purchasing new parts where available. Once completed, our paint team began the undercoat process. Our standard practice involves applying four separate coats, each block flatted in between before finally applying the stunning Damask Red paintwork. Now that the paintwork is complete, the remaining unrestored areas really stood out. It was then decided, in collaboration with our incredibly enthusiastic customer, to address all the following areas:
· Suspension
· Brakes
· Pipework
· Full engine rebuild
· New carpets

Having delivered the car back to the owner after some time apart over the 2024 winter period, the engine is singing on all 4 cylinders following the bedding in process and rolling road fine tuning. The little Midget along with its owner Martin really have became part of the family here at TI, his next two projects are already underway!
